Do you re member the great battle over the Skinny Elvis vs. Fat Elvis debate?

Well, we came down on the side of Skinny Elvis and it is our next pick for National Stamp Collecting Month!

#16 – Elvis Presley – 1993

The US Postal Service anticipated great demand for the Elvis commemorative stamp, and printed over 500 million copies, which is about three times more than for a normal commemorative issue.  As a result, the stamp has not appreciated much in value.  Stamp dealers typically pay below face value for Elvis mint sheets.  The full sheet of 40 stamps sells on eBay in the $12 to $13 range.  A first day cover of the Elvis issue has a catalog (retail) value of $2, but with about 4.4 million in existence (which is about forty times the number of FDCs for a typical issue), it changes hands for much less. -Mark Leon
